VexIQ is a global competition, new to the Cayman Islands. It is designed to make robotics accessible for younger children. Kids blossom through participating in this exciting competition – it’s a fun way to learn about robotics! VexIQ instills STEM principles and critical thinking, but also fosters countless life skills: problem solving, resilience, self-confidence, teamwork.
“A robotics platform designed to transform the STEM learning paradigm for young students and their teachers (grades 4-8). When students have the ability to jump right in and snap robots together using this intuitive tool-less system, it can unlock a curiosity and a passion that will stay with them for life.”Read more about VexIQ
2019-20 VexIQ Challenge: “Squared Away”
The VexIQ challenge for 2019-20 is called Squared Away.
In the 345 Robotics Club, kids will work in teams of two design, build, drive and program a robot that will score points in the challenge. Check out the Squared Away video, which explains more.
They will use the robot to learn robot skills (driving), learn programming concepts with ModKit (for autonomous programming; similar to Scratch), and also score points by working in “alliances” (two teams).
